RING 01 (BICCIANO)
Length: 3,1 km
Directionality: ring
Travel mode: on foot, bike, horse
Total ascent: 180 m

Description: the circular route is easy to follow, short in length, suitable for beginners and also for families (not with a stroller and children at least 6/7 years old). It starts and ends from the playground located in the center of Bicciano. Leaving the playground you enter the historic center of the small village of Bicciano through a stone climb, on the left you will immediately find the valuable little church of the town. Going down one of the characteristic stone streets, you shortly exit the town after passing the ancient wash houses. Once you reach the asphalt, turn right and after about 500 meters you reach a small tabernacle dedicated to the Madonna (1). From here you descend on the left along a natural track and after a few turns the route reaches a valuable stone house “Le Ghiaie” (2). Continue on level ground along a dirt road that runs alongside the Lavanzone stream and when you arrive near a riding school (3) turn right to go up a path that was the ancient road that led from Talla to Bicciano. Once you reach the asphalt, turn right and after about 300 meters follow the signs for the “Gechena” agglomeration (4) which can be reached via a dirt road. Once past Gechena, following an easy uphill path, you return directly to the Bicciano playground.

What can be seen:
Bicciano, an ancient settlement certainly of Roman origin (Biccianum), remembered by Repetti as Bicciano di Sotto compared to Bicciano di Sopra (today Campovecchio), inside the valuable church of S. Maria.
Ghechena, group of valuable stone houses whose name suggests Etruscan origins. In autumn the houses of Ghecena take on a yellow-red color due to the American vine that surrounds them.
